Meet Our Board of Directors

Jane Higgins Marx, Chair

The ADAMH Board’s appointee to the Board is attorney Jane Higgins Marx, a partner with Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP, a Columbus law firm. Ms. Marx practices in the areas of estate and business planning, probate, probate litigation, business succession planning, and elder law. She is a Fellow of The American College of Trust & Estate Counsel. A graduate of Denison University and The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, she is a board member of the Legal Aid Society of Columbus. Ms. Marx is a member of the Columbus Bar Association (Estate Planning and Trust Committee and past chair of the Probate Court Committee), The Ohio State Bar Association (member of the Board of Governors of the Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law Section, member Elder Law Section Committee), the Columbus Foundation Professional Advisors, The Columbus Estate Planning Council, the Society of Financial Service Professionals Columbus Chapter, and The Catholic Foundation Professional Advisors Group. She is a resident of Upper Arlington.

Frank New, Vice-Chair

The Board of Developmental Disabilities’ appointee is Frank New. Mr. New was formerly Director of Planning for the Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Director of Special Education, Ohio Department of Education, Teacher Cincinnati Public Schools, and Instructor at The Ohio State University, College of Education. He received degrees from Thomas More College and the University of Cincinnati. He served as president of Ohio Very Special Arts and the National Association of State Directors of Special Education. Mr. New is retired and resides in Grove City.

Larry H. James

Judge Robert Montgomery’s appointee to the Board is attorney Larry H. James of Columbus, a partner with the Columbus firm of Crabbe Brown and James, LLP.  Mr. James is a graduate of Wittenberg University and Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. He has practiced law at his firm since 1981. He is general counsel to the National Fraternal Order of Police Grand Lodge. He has served as an assistant city attorney for the cities of Columbus and Cleveland, and as Public Safety Director for the City of Columbus. Mr. James other public service includes past service as chairman of the Ohio Elections Commission, member of the Columbus Zoo board, and member of the board of the Columbus Museum of Art. Mr. James is currently on the boards of Kenyon College and the Cleveland Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  In 2012, he was honored as Humanitarian of the Year by the American Red Cross Columbus Chapter. Mr. James has served on numerous other professional, charitable, community and governing boards and committees.

Mr. James was recently the subject of a Letter from the Editor of Columbus Monthly.
